SYNCHRONIC: Higher Ground

  • Higher Ground 851 Bond Avenue Northwest Grand Rapids, MI, 49503 United States (map)

SYNCHRONIC is a set of experiments in collaborative culture that will engage, attract, and retain the people that call Grand Rapids home.

Each experiment will consist of three acts:

I. speaker to address a particular hot topic, relevant to the future of our city
II. creative performance that adds a different perspective of the topic on deck
III. breakout sessions, where participants decide where to take our conversation

Rock climbing pushes the body to its limits and every climb risks life. There is no such thing as the perfect climb, only the mountain reaches perfection through its existence. The task of scaling a mountain face has always been a collaborative one. Marked foot holds and bolted rings testify the desire to share knowledge and resources for those yet to come—the next climber.

In a shared economy resources are redefined. The climber knows that no one owns the mountain, and so conquering its many faces becomes a goal not only for her, but for all who dare.

SYNCHRONIC will bring influencers to Higher Ground (rock climbing complex) from corporate, government, startups, and non-profits together with local sharing economy leaders to learn, hear new ideas, and find new collaborators on the path to the new economy.
