Idea generation through divergent and lateral thinking is essential to pursuing solutions to any need, problem or opportunity in a breakthrough way. Learn and practice multiple collaborative idea generation techniques: critical skills for any entrepreneur. Whether it's finding a new or original idea or searching for new approaches to solve the inevitable product or market challenge, idea generation can take many forms.
This workshop will introduce participants to a variety of tools for creating new ideas as well as the mindsets and conditions that make idea generation more successful. Selected tools and methods are from our experiences with facilitating innovation projects within industry and non-profit service organizations.
Your Instructors | Karyl Morin and Bill Fluharty
Karyl is an educator and innovator with a passion for empowering individuals and organizations to discover and pursue their unique contribution to the world. After serving in public education for 15 years, she now serves as an advisor, contributor and facilitator for designing new forms of education. Through Kendall College of Art and Design, Karyl serves as the Project Director for the collaborative team designing the Grand Rapids Public Museum School, which will launch in Fall 2015.
Bill Fluharty has worked as an Industrial Design and Innovation Leader in the automotive industry for 24 years. Bill left his position as Vice President of Research & Discovery and Industrial Design at Johnson Controls in 2008 to focus on helping companies and individuals to leverage the competencies of Design to improve all aspects of an enterprise.
Bill’s passion for the management of design and innovation is currently being leveraged to support both emerging and established organizations and leaders in West Michigan
