GR Makers: Organic 3D Printing with Blender3D

  • GR Makers 401 Hall Street Southwest Grand Rapids, MI, 49503 United States (map)

Workshop Description

Inside this course, students will learn specific modeling techniques that are great for 3D printing using boolean operations. You'll gain a real understanding of how to keep scale consistent during the entire process from concept to hitting start on a 3d printer. We'll also touch on using calipers to make practical 3d printed items without having to leave Blender 3D.

Outcomes

Students will have a little 3D model chess piece and a working knowledge of how to create blender models and turn them into something that can be 3D printed.

Target Audience

Anyone interested in 3D printing

Prerequisites

Rudimentary knowledge of Blender (Beginning Blender 1 & 2 cover this)

What you should bring

Please bring a working laptop with a working copy of blender on it. If you've taken the Beginning Blender course your computer should have blender on it already. If your computer can read sd cards that's a plus but is not required; I will be providing an sd reader temporarily for the course. Recommended: calipers, digital or dial are fine for this course we'll be staying away from vernier calipers
